Tamiya Fairey Swordfish 1:48, photo-etched bracing is not a model but an accessory photo-etched set of metal interplane struts and bracing for the Swordfish biplane model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an aircraft model but an accessory photo-etched set from the firm Tamiya. It contains metal interplane bracing and struts for the plastic model of the British carrier-based Fairey Swordfish biplane in 1:48 scale. The flat metal bracing replaces stretching thread or wire and gives the model the typical look of a classic biplane.
The Fairey Swordfish was a British carrier-based torpedo and reconnaissance biplane that became famous during the Second World War despite its seemingly outdated design. Its characteristic web of interplane bracing and struts is the key to a faithful model, and it is exactly that which this photo-etched set reproduces accurately.
The etched bracing is taken off the fret, adjusted if the instructions call for it, and glued with cyanoacrylate glue. The flat metal parts hold their shape better than thread and look realistic. Tweezers and a sharp knife come in handy. The set is intended for use with the Fairey Swordfish model in 1:48 scale.
The set does not contain the plastic model, glue or paints, which have to be bought separately.
