A set of precisely cut self-adhesive painting masks from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the German Fieseler Fi 156C Storch liaison and observation aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit or a model - it is an accessory that makes it easier to paint the extensive cockpit glazing and other areas cleanly. The Storch has exceptionally large, complex glazing, so masks save a particularly large amount of work here; they are applied directly to the parts and the framing gains sharp straight edges with no laborious cutting of adhesive tape. Sets of this type usually also hold circular masks for the wheel hubs.
The Fieseler Fi 156 Storch was a German liaison, observation and courier aircraft famous for its ability to take off and land in a very short distance and to fly extremely slowly. Fixed landing gear with long shock absorbers and a spacious glazed cabin with an excellent view made it an ideal aircraft for observation, casualty evacuation and liaison flights. It is exactly that large greenhouse glazing that makes masks an extremely useful accessory on this type.
Carefully lift the mask off the backing with tweezers or the tip of a knife and place it on a dry, degreased surface. Press the edges down carefully so that no paint creeps under them. Apply the paint in thin coats, ideally with an airbrush, and lift the mask before the coat has hardened completely. On strongly curved shapes it helps to back the edge with liquid mask.
