A set of painting masks by Eduard in 1:48 scale for the FM-1 Wildcat carrier fighter. It is not a kit but an accessory to a model. TFace is the brand's own name for the double-sided version, which covers both the outer surfaces of the glazing and its inner side. The canopy frames can therefore be painted with the interior color from inside and with camouflage from outside, so that the canopy looks just as it did on the real aircraft. The basic single-sided version of the same type is a separate item.
The FM-1 Wildcat was the version of the Grumman F4F carrier fighter built under license by the Eastern Aircraft division of General Motors. Compared with the six-gun F4F-4 version it had only four machine guns, but a larger ammunition supply, which suited operations from small escort carriers. In British service the same machine served under the designation Martlet Mk.V. The Wildcat was the main American carrier fighter at the start of the war in the Pacific.
Wash the glazing and let it dry completely. Paint the inner side of the frames with the interior color first, and once it is dry move on to the exterior camouflage. Press the edges of the masks down with a blunt tool so that paint does not seep underneath. Spray several thin coats instead of one heavy one and lift the mask off shortly after the paint has flashed off.
