This is a sheet of waterslide decals in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Eduard, covering the national insignia of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-3 fighter. The package holds the decals themselves; the model and the paints are not part of it. The sheet is intended for modelers who want their national insignia in better print quality than an older kit offers, or who need a replacement for a damaged original sheet.
The Fw 190A-3 followed on from the earlier versions of the A series and received a more powerful form of the BMW 801 radial engine. The aircraft kept the characteristic short cowling with a cooling fan behind the propeller and a wide landing gear track. The individual variants of the A series differ from one another in armament, details of the cowling and equipment, so when building it is advisable to stick to a particular production form, because the size and position of the insignia on the fuselage change as well.
Before application, check that the paint under the decal is fully cured; in fresh clear a decal will bury its edge and can no longer be straightened. Use water on the lukewarm side and let the piece stand on paper until the film releases by itself. Put a thin layer of water on the model so that the decal can be moved, and then blot the excess away with the edge of a cloth, not by running it over the surface. Over large areas of insignia it is advisable to use a soft swab and push the air out from the center to the edges. If a small bubble does appear after drying, pierce it with the tip of a knife and press it down with a decal softener. A final clear coat unifies the sheen and seals the insignia firmly.
The decals are supplied on their own. The model, paints, clear coats and decal softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
