Focke-Wulf Fw-190A-7 in 1:48 scale is an add-on item from the Big Sin range of the Czech maker Eduard. It is not a model of the aircraft: Big Sin is a bundle of several Brassin sets for one type, which are fitted to a kit you have already bought. It is the most extensive way in which Eduard offers its accessories.
The Fw 190A-7 was the version put into production at the beginning of 1944. It was powered by the BMW 801 radial engine and, compared with the older machines, it was given heavier synchronized armament over the engine, which raised its effectiveness against four-engined bombers. The production run of the series was short and the machines were soon replaced by the more numerous A-8 version, so the A-7 is one of the less usual subjects. At the time the Focke-Wulf was valued for its handling, for the pilot's good field of view and for the robust wide-track landing gear, which forgave landings on field airstrips.
Wash the parts first and let them dry, so that the paint will hold. Cut the casting blocks off clear of the shape of the part and protect your airways while sanding. They are glued with cyanoacrylate; on larger surfaces a thicker gel version helps, as it gives time to line the part up. What saves the most work is a dry test-fit: most of the accessories for the cockpit and the engine section have to be in place before the fuselage is closed up.
