Fokker D.XXI Finnish late — painting masks 1:48 (MH Models)

This is not a kit nor parts for a model, but a set of self-adhesive painting masks from MH Models in 1:48 scale. The masks follow the shape of the canopy frames and glazed areas of the Fokker D.XXI model in the late Finnish version exactly, and let the framing be sprayed crisply and evenly without laborious brushwork.

The real subject

The Fokker D.XXI was a Dutch single-seat low-wing fighter of the 1930s with fixed landing gear. In the service of the Finnish Air Force it flew in the Winter War and the Continuation War and was one of its mainstays; late Finnish aircraft differed in details of the airframe and the cockpit.

Use

• First clean and degrease the glazing.
• Carefully lift the individual masks off the sheet and transfer them to the matching areas of the cockpit.
• Press the edges down carefully so that the paint does not creep under the mask.
• Spray the frames with an airbrush and lift the masks off once the paint is dry.
