A French gendarme of 1944, a 1:48 collector figure from Dynamo-Models. The second figure of the trio of the same name.
Responsibility details are not available.
The figure represents a member of the French gendarmerie, that is of an order force, as he looked in 1944. It brings something into a diorama that is hard to find in the ranges: a figure that is not a soldier and yet belongs in a period scene. Dynamo-Models lists it in 1:48 scale as the second number of a three-part range that is rounded off by a joint set.
A gendarme on a street corner, by a barrier or beside a parked car conveys at once that the scene takes place in a town and that people other than vehicle crews live in it. The smaller 1:48 scale helps with that: the figure takes up little room and can be slipped even into a finished piece where there is nowhere left to reach. In a pair with the first number of the line a natural patrol arises.
A dark uniform is treacherous on a small piece: leave it noticeably lighter than reality would suggest, otherwise it will merge into a single mass. Brighten the seams, the collar and the edges of the pockets and add a cool cast on the high points of the folds. Set the headdress apart by shape, not by color. Finish the leather accessories with a faint sheen, which gives the figure a smart look.
