A set of self-adhesive masks for a model of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-8 in 1:48 scale. The templates are cut to the outlines of the glazing of one particular kit from the Eduard brand, so they stick on with no measuring and no cutting with a scalpel on the model itself. Sets for other versions of the 190 exist in the same scale and from the same maker, so when choosing, watch the subversion designation.
The material of masking sets is deliberately thin and pliable, so that it can be pressed into the curve of a canopy while still holding its shape and not tearing dried paint when it is removed. The Fw 190 A-8 was in numbers one of the most widespread versions of the A series: a BMW 801 radial engine, a wider fuselage and heavier armament than the early versions. With this one in particular it pays to do the canopy framing cleanly, because the canopy is very visible above the fuselage.
Before sticking the masks on, simply rinse the glazing and let it dry completely - grease from fingers is the most common reason a mask does not hold. Once it is stuck on, run a blunt toothpick along the edges. Lay the interior color under the frames first, so that the frame does not shine through from inside, and only then spray the outer camouflage. Remove the mask while the clear coat is fresh, and if a piece of paint does come away, stop and correct it right away with a brush.
The package contains masking templates only. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
