1:48 German WW II Volkssturm Berlin 1945 is a resin figure in 1:48 scale, cast as a figure in civilian clothing supplemented by military gear.
Responsibility details are not available.
A stand-alone resin figure in 1:48 scale. The casting captures a figure whose clothing is largely civilian: a coat and a cap of civilian cut supplemented by simple gear. It is precisely this contrast that sets it apart from the uniformed figures of the same range and determines where it suits in a scene.
A figure in a civilian coat will not fit into an aviation scene; it belongs to a ground diorama on an urban base: paving, a curb, a piece of masonry. In 1:48 it measures roughly three and a half centimeters, so beside a model of a vehicle or a fragment of a building it works as an exact measure of height. Because its coloring is by its nature subdued, watch the contrast against the base, as on gray paving it will be lost. It helps to stand it at the edge of a lighter surface or right against a sharp vertical edge, which optically pulls it forward.
The casting comes on a casting block. Cut it off with a fine-toothed saw and sand the surface down with a file so that the figure stands on the base on the whole area of its feet. Scrape off the parting line from the mold, which often runs along the side of the legs and along the outer side of the arms, with a scalpel held flat. Before painting, wash the casting in lukewarm water with detergent because of the release agent. Then a thin primer, the base tones and lastly the shading. Civilian fabrics will take more shades than a uniform, so it makes sense to bring out the difference between the coat, the trousers and the cap. Glue any separate parts with cyanoacrylate glue, and sand wet and with respiratory protection.
The figure is supplied unpainted, as a resin casting. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
