An Eduard photo-etched set for a model of the Gotha Go 244B transport aircraft in 1:48 scale. It refines the places where metal should be as thin as on the real subject.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Go 244B is a German twin-engine transport aircraft from the time of the Second World War. It came about by building engines into the structure of the Go 242 cargo glider, with which it shares its arrangement: a short fuselage nacelle with a cargo hold and the tail surfaces carried on a pair of booms. It carried freight, materiel and troops, and among modeling subjects it is one of the less usual ones, on which it pays to put more work into detail than on an ordinary fighter.
The set brings photo-etched metal parts in 1:48 scale. Photo-etch is made by etching away a thin sheet, so the parts have a thickness that cannot be reached by injection into a mold. That is exactly what tells on an aircraft with large glazing, an instrument panel and a great deal of small equipment in the cargo hold. The exact list of parts and their placement are given in the manufacturer's instructions enclosed with the set.
Work on a hard surface and part the pieces off the photo-etched sheet with a sharp blade, not with cutters. Level off the remnant of the fret tab with a fine file. Make the bends over a sharp edge or in a photo-etch bending tool; a bent part is straightened again only with difficulty, so think the position of the bend out beforehand. For gluing, use super glue in a minute amount applied with the tip of a wire, and on larger surfaces epoxy, which gives time to settle the part. Wash the metal before painting, degrease it and go over it with a primer meant for metal, or the paint will not hold.
The kit of the aircraft, paints, primer and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
