A photo-etched set of parts for a model of the American Grumman F4F-3 carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. Intended to complete a kit, which has to be obtained separately.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Grumman F4F-3 is an American single-seat carrier fighter of the early 1940s. It is recognized by its stocky fuselage with an air-cooled radial engine, a short wing and a narrow landing gear that retracted into the sides of the fuselage. The F4F-3 version is among the first production forms of the type and has a fixed wing; a folding wing to save space on deck came only with the later versions.
A photo-etched metal fret for a model of the F4F-3 in 1:48 scale. Etching allows thicknesses that injection-molded plastic cannot reach, so it is used to replace elements that are meant to read on the model as thin sheet, mesh or small equipment. Which parts the fret carries and where they belong on the model is given in the manufacturer's instructions; follow them as to when to fit them too, because some of the work falls in the period when the model is still in pieces.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not by breaking them off, or the edge will bend. Make the bends in a bending tool or over a sharp edge, pressing briefly and decisively. They are glued with superglue applied in a tiny amount on the tip of a toothpick, because cement for polystyrene does not hold on metal. Before painting, wash and degrease the metal and use a primer made for metal, or the paint will rub off when handled.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
