Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier-based jet fighter Grumman F9F Cougar with a swept wing, in 1:48 scale. Per the box art, the package allows building either the fighter version F9F-8 or the reconnaissance version F9F-8P with a modified nose for cameras. Collectors of 1950s naval aviation will appreciate the model.
The Grumman F9F Cougar was developed from the fighter Panther, in which a straight wing was replaced by a more modern swept wing for better high-speed performance. The Cougar served with US Navy and US Marine Corps carrier aviation in the 1950s as a single-seat, single-engine fighter operated from aircraft carriers. The F9F-8P version was a photo-reconnaissance variant: it carried cameras in an extended, modified nose in place of armament.
Glue the parts with thin liquid plastic cement. Paint the cockpit interior and landing gear bays before closing up the fuselage. Apply a primer before spraying to bring out the panel lines; we recommend an airbrush. Typical naval schemes include overall Sea Blue as well as light gray with a white underside; apply decals over gloss varnish and fix them with a matte coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
