Pre-cut painting masks for the cockpit framing and for the wheels of the British Hawker Hunter F.6 fighter in 1:48 scale, cut for the Airfix kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Hawker Hunter flew in 1951 and within a few years became the mainstay of the British fighter defense. A clean fuselage with side air intakes, a swept wing and four 30 mm cannons in a removable pack under the nose made it a machine in demand beyond the borders of Britain as well. The F.6 version received a more powerful Rolls-Royce Avon powerplant and a modified leading edge with a so-called dogtooth, which calmed the behavior of the aircraft in maneuvers at high speeds. In the light attack role the Hunter lasted with some users long after it had disappeared from front-line squadrons.
The frames of the pilot's canopy are narrow on this type and curved along their whole length, so lining them in with a brush usually ends in a shaky edge. The films copy their shape, adhere to the clear part and leave a clean outline once sprayed over. There are also discs for the tires in the package, thanks to which the wheel hub is sprayed without lengthy winding with tape.
Lift the individual parts off the backing with pointed tweezers and press them down from the center to the edges, so that no air bubble stays under the film. Apply the paint in several light coats, because a heavy coat likes to tear while being peeled off. Take the mask off while the varnish is still fresh. The cut is prepared for the kit at 1:48 from Airfix and covers the outer side of the glazing. The set does not set out to replace the paints or the model itself.
