The decal sheet Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIB in the Far East, Pt.1 in 1:48 scale from DK Decals is devoted to the machine gun armed Hurricanes of the Far Eastern theater. It is an accessory for a finished model, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of waterslide decals from the Czech publisher DK Decals in the most common modeling scale for aircraft. It is not a kit, but markings for a model already built and painted. The sheet is the first part of a two-part series on Hurricanes of the Mk.IIB version in the Far East; the second part is released separately. The number of schemes and the size of the sheet are given on the box.
The Hurricane Mk.IIB was the machine gun version, with twelve .303 caliber machine guns in the wing and the ability to carry bombs under the wing, which made it an all-round fighter-bomber. In the Far East the British and Allied Hurricanes were pushed into a hard defensive role and later formed the backbone of ground-attack work over Burma and India. Machines in the tropics were given a dust filter under the nose, striking finishes adapted to the jungle and often conspicuous identification stripes as well. It is precisely this combination that makes the Far Eastern Hurricanes an attractive subject for modelers, one that differs from the European machines at first glance.
Prepare a smooth gloss base; on matte paint air is trapped under the film of the decal and a light frame appears around the marking. Cut the decal out together with its backing, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until it starts to slide freely. Move it onto the model with a moistened brush and use tweezers on the backing. Press the water out from under the film with a soft cloth and then apply a decal softener so that the decal settles into the engraved lines and over the curves. Once it has dried perfectly, unify the surface with a matte or satin varnish according to the sheen of the surrounding camouflage.
