The decal sheet Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIB in the Far East, Pt.2 in 1:48 scale from DK Decals follows on from the first part of the series on the machine gun armed Hurricanes in the Far East. It is an accessory for a finished model, not a kit.

The second part of a decal series from the Czech publisher DK Decals devoted to Hurricanes of the Mk.IIB version in the Far Eastern theater. It is a sheet of waterslide decals, not a kit: the markings are applied to a finished and painted model, which is obtained separately. How many schemes the sheet holds and how large it is are given on the box. The first part of the series is released separately.
The Mk.IIB was the machine gun version of the Hurricane: twelve .303 caliber machine guns in the wing and the ability to carry bombs, that is a machine suited to both fighter and ground-attack tasks. In Southeast Asia it entered the fighting first in the role of a defender and later made its mark in attacks on ground targets. Tropical machines are recognizable by the dust filter under the nose and by finishes adapted to the jungle; conspicuous identification stripes were usual as well, meant to prevent confusion with Japanese types. The Far Eastern Hurricanes therefore differ from the European ones at first glance and offer a varied alternative to the usual British schemes.
Always go over the base under the decals with a gloss varnish so that it is smooth and no air is trapped under the film. Cut the decal out together with its backing, dip it briefly in lukewarm water and let it rest a moment until it starts to slide freely. Slide it onto the model with a moistened brush, press the excess water out with a soft cloth from the center toward the edges, and only then apply a decal softener. It draws the decal down into the engraved lines and over curved surfaces. Once it has dried perfectly, overcoat the model with a matte or satin varnish so that the edges of the film blend with the paint.
