A photo-etched metal set for a model of the Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIc in 1:48 scale. It completes a kit with thin parts that cannot be made in injection-molded plastic.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Hawker Hurricane was a British single-seat fighter that bore the main weight of the defensive fighting of 1940 and stayed in service throughout the war. In its design it came from an older school: the fuselage was built around a tubular frame, fabric-covered at the rear. It was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine. The Mk.IIc version was recognizable by its armament of four 20 mm cannons in the wing, and it was also used as a fighter-bomber and a night fighter.
A photo-etched set is an accessory for a kit in 1:48 scale. Thin metal sheet allows parts to be made at a thickness an injection mold cannot reach, such as grilles, consoles, belts or instrument panels. The exact list of parts and the kit the set is cut for are given in the manufacturer's instructions. The aircraft model is not included.
Separate the parts from the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface, then level the bridges with a file. Make the folds in a bending tool or over the edge of a metal ruler, in one movement, because repeated re-bending fatigues the metal and the part cracks. They are bonded with cyanoacrylate glue or two-part epoxy. Before painting, degrease the metal and go over it with a primer, or the coat will come off in further handling.
The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
