An accurate turned metal accessory for a model of the British Hawker Typhoon Mk.IB fighter bomber in 1:48 scale. The package contains four turned metal barrels for the wing cannons in the late form with covered barrels, usually supplemented by etched rings. It is not a model of an aircraft but a replacement detail part that takes the place of the plastic barrels of a kit.
The metal barrels have a sharp muzzle with no molding seams, a clean bore and are perfectly straight and true, which plastic cannot achieve. At the same time they are more resistant to bending and snapping. The four cannons in the leading edge of the wings thus gain a markedly more realistic and finer look.
Cut off the plastic barrels, drill holes in the remaining parts and glue the metal barrels in with cyanoacrylate. Fit the etched rings as the instructions say if they are included.
This is a supplementary detail set, not a complete kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
