A masking set for the extensive glazing and the insignia of the German He 111 bomber, 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Heinkel He 111 came into the world at a time when Germany was officially not allowed to build any bombers. The first machines therefore carried passengers and mail while their military form matured alongside. The most conspicuous feature of the later versions became the fully glazed nose with no separate windscreen, thanks to which the pilot looked straight through a rounded surface made up of dozens of small frames.
In 1940 it bore the main weight of the daylight raids over Britain and paid dearly for its weak defense and small bomb load. It moved to the night, then, and found further roles: it carried torpedoes against the convoys sailing to Murmansk, served as a transport machine supplying the surrounded army at Stalingrad and in 1944 flying bombs were released from it in flight against London. The last chapter is remarkable, because licensed Spanish examples were still flying in the 1960s, by then with British Merlin engines, and they literally played a part in a film.
Here the glazing mask is a single one and intended for the outer side, and with it three pieces for the national insignia are enclosed. It is precisely on this type that pre-cut film makes the most sense: there are incomparably more glazed fields than on a fighter and preparing tape by hand would take several evenings.
Work from the largest fields to the smallest and leave the thin joint between individual pieces closed. Apply the paint square to the frame so that it does not get under the edge of the film.
