The Heinkel He-115 Markings airbrush mask set from MH models in 1:48 scale serves to spray the markings onto a model of the twin-engine floatplane in paint instead of using decals.

A masking set from MH models in 1:48 scale for spraying the markings onto a model of the Heinkel He 115. It is not a kit or a set of accessory parts but templates for painting the insignia. On a large floatplane sprayed markings pay off: a decal lies down with difficulty over the extensive surfaces of the fuselage and over the floats and tends to silver on a matte surface, whereas a sprayed insignia stays part of the finish.
The He 115 was a German twin-engine floatplane with two radial BMW 132 engines, used for reconnaissance over the sea, for minelaying and for torpedo attacks. The design with its pair of long floats, an all-metal fuselage and an extensive glazed nose was relatively clean, and for its size the machine had good flying qualities. It also served with foreign operators, so more marking variants appear on it than on purely front-line types.
First finish the camouflage and let it cure properly. Transfer the template to its place and press it down all round the outline; on the curved surfaces of the fuselage and the floats work from the center toward the edges, so that the film does not stand proud anywhere. Cover the surroundings with tape and paper. Spray the paint in several very thin coats perpendicular to the edge of the mask. Spray multi-color insignia layer by layer and mask again between the layers. Remove the mask shortly after it has dried with the tip of a scalpel. Small imperfections are retouched with a fine brush and a final varnish evens out the surface.
This is a masking set, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
