A masking set for the glazing and the frames of the German Henschel Hs 123 ground-attack biplane in 1:48 scale. It covers the glazing from both sides and the shapes match the kit by the brand Amtech.
Responsibility details are not available.
Few aircraft of the Second World War have such a contradictory biography. The Hs 123 flew in 1935 as a dive bomber, production ended as early as 1938 and the machine was to be replaced quickly. But it turned out that a robust biplane with a radial engine takes hits, gets off a muddy field and can fly so slowly that it practically stops over a target.
In Spain it served with the Condor Legion, then over Poland, France, the Balkans and finally on the Eastern Front, where it lasted until 1944, that is six years longer than its own production. Commanders of ground units asked for it back and the Luftwaffe considered restarting production, but the jigs had long since been scrapped. The last examples flew out their lives without spare parts.
An open cockpit has little glass, but the windscreen and the instrument panel call for a clean edge that masking tape rarely holds. The die-cut shapes fit exactly and cope even with a small radius of curvature. According to the stated contents the set holds parts for both sides of the glazing.
The kit has to be bought separately.
