1:48 H.S. Buccaneer S.2B, canopy frame mask for sharp and evenly wide cockpit frames on the British low-level strike aircraft from the Airfix kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Pre-shaped masks cover the glazing of the tandem cockpit of the British Buccaneer S.2B strike aircraft. The individual pieces follow the run of the frames, so after spraying the edges stay sharp and equally wide along their whole length. The set is cut for the Airfix kit.
The Buccaneer was created as a carrier-based attack aircraft for the Royal Navy, meant to reach its target just above the water, below the radar horizon. A stocky fuselage shaped according to the area rule, blowing of the lifting surfaces with compressed air bled from the engines and a rotating bomb bay in the underside of the fuselage made it an exceptionally steady platform in the turbulent air low over the ground. The S.2 version received Rolls-Royce Spey turbofan engines, and the land-based S.2B then served with the Royal Air Force until the early 1990s, when it also took part in operations in the Persian Gulf.
The side frames are narrow and the windscreen is markedly curved, and that is exactly where hand-cut tape springs away most often. Press the pieces into all the transitions with a toothpick, first apply a thin coat of the interior shade and only then the exterior camouflage. It pays to fix the edge of the mask with a light clear coat, so that paint does not creep under it.
