A masking set for the cockpit glazing of the patrol Lockheed Hudson in 1:48 scale. The frames are covered from both sides, that is from outside and from inside.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Lockheed Hudson came about by converting the civil Super Electra airliner into a patrol and light bomber type. The British purchasing commission chose it in 1938 and it became the first American machine to serve with the Royal Air Force in large numbers. The Mk III, Mk IV, Mk V and Mk VI versions differed in engines, armament and equipment for long flights over the Atlantic and the North Sea. The examples taken over by the US Navy received the designation PBO-1.
Its crews scored several firsts. As early as October 1939 a Hudson shot down a German flying boat over the North Sea, and on 1 March 1942 a machine of squadron VP-82 sent the submarine U-656 to the bottom, which was the first submarine destroyed by a US Navy aircraft in the war. The type later served as a transport aircraft, a trainer and a carrier for dropping agents. Over 2500 were built in all and some of them flew out their lives in civil colors long after the war.
The subject has richly divided glazing on the cockpit and the side windows, and that is exactly what makes lining it up by hand with strips of tape so slow. The shaped parts from this set fit the framing without measuring and after spraying the glass stays clear and the edge of the frame sharp. Both sides are covered, so the inside of the cockpit can be sprayed before the fuselage is closed.
