A set of photo-etched metal parts in 1:48 scale for a model of the I-185 aircraft from the Ark Models kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The I-185 was a Soviet fighter aircraft from the beginning of the 1940s. Despite good results in testing it never reached series production, and it is therefore rather a rarity in the modeling range. This set is intended for a model in 1:48 scale built from the kit of the Ark Models brand.
These are photo-etched metal parts. Photo-etching is made from thin sheet, so it can capture shapes for which injection-molded plastic is too thick: thin sheet-metal edges, meshes, straps, buckles and small flat elements. On a finished model that shows precisely on the parts that are supposed to be paper-thin and come out thickened in plastic.
The parts are held in the fret on thin fret tabs. Cut through them with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not by breaking them off, otherwise they will bend. Make the bends over a straight edge or in a bending tool and press with a flat tool along the whole length of the bend at once. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue; cement for plastic does not hold on metal. Before painting, degrease the parts and apply a base color, so that the top coat does not peel. Glue on the parts that are to stay movable only after painting.
A set of photo-etched parts is supplied. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
