A metal set, FineMolds 1:48 A7M Reppu, 20 mm barrels and Pitot tube, for sharpening up the Mitsubishi A7M Reppu fighter. It is not a model but an accessory to a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from the Japanese manufacturer FineMolds holds accurate metal parts for a model of the Mitsubishi A7M Reppu fighter in 1:48 scale: turned metal barrels for the 20 mm wing cannons and a Pitot tube, the airspeed sensor. It is not a standalone aircraft model but an accessory meant for a matching plastic kit. The metal parts replace the softer and less well shaped plastic originals and markedly raise both the realism and the mechanical toughness of the finished build.
The Mitsubishi A7M Reppu, Allied code name Sam, was a Japanese carrier fighter developed as the successor to the famous A6M Zero. Because of trouble developing a powerful radial engine it stayed at the prototype stage and never saw combat. Its armament included 20 mm cannons in the wings.
Cut off the turned barrels and the tube, clean them up and fit them in place of the plastic parts. Bond the metal with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Degrease the parts before painting and use a primer suited to metal. The set is small but it noticeably lifts the look of the most exposed places on the model.
This is an add-on set, not a model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
