Photo-etched metal parts for models of the Il-2 attack aircraft in the production form of 1943, 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Il-2 was a Soviet attack aircraft and one of the most numerously produced combat machines of the Second World War. Its particular feature was an armored shell, which made up the front part of the fuselage and protected the engine, the radiators and the pilot, so that the aircraft could take hits from ground fire. The designation mod. 1943 belongs to a later production form; machines from this period differ from the early batches in a number of structural particulars.
Photo-etched parts in thin metal sheet for Il-2 models in 1:48 scale. Etched metal replaces the places where a plastic part would come out disproportionately thick: grilles, thin edges, belts, plates and tiny controls. The list of parts and their placing on the model is described by the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the parts off the etched fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface, and do not break them out, otherwise a burr will remain and the surrounding area will bend. Make the bends on the edge of a metal rule or in a bending tool. Metal is glued with cyanoacrylate glue in a small amount, which you apply with a pin. Degrease the surface before painting and use a base coat intended for metal, otherwise the shade rubs off the smooth surface.
The set suits modelers who want to push the detail on a well-known attack aircraft beyond what production plastic offers. Tweezers with fine tips, a sharp blade and good light make the work easier. The kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
