An add-on set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard in 1:48 scale. It holds seat harness belts made as color photo-etched parts in steel sheet. It is not a model of the aircraft: the belts are glued into a kit that you buy separately.
The m3 designation refers to the two-seat form of this single-engine attack aircraft, that is with room for a second crew member behind the pilot. For a modeler that means more work and at the same time more opportunity: the visible interior is not just one seat under a canopy but a longer glazed space that can be seen into from both sides. In a cockpit like that the belts are one of the few colorful and articulated elements, so the eye fixes on them.
The steel used in this range is springier than brass and holds its shape once bent. A strap can therefore be folded over the edge of the seat or left lying loose and it will stay in that position without being glued along its whole length. It is precisely the irregularity that reads as convincing. The parts are printed in color including the fittings, so there is no painting of elements only a few millimeters across.
Separate them with a scalpel on a hard surface, not by twisting. Shape them gradually around a rounded pair of tweezers or a toothpick. They are glued with a minute drop of cyanoacrylate applied on the tip of a toothpick, or spot-glued with clear varnish. Finish and paint the seat before you glue the belts in. Do not overspray the color printing, and apply flat clear coat only to the surrounding plastic.
This is an add-on set, not a stand-alone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
