Responsibility details are not available.
A die-cut self-adhesive Eduard masking set in 1:48 scale for the American Grumman J2F-5 Duck amphibian biplane. It is not a kit or a model in its own right but a set of precisely shaped masks in thin yellow masking tape (kabuki). The masks cover the framing of the glazed cockpit and make it easy to spray the glazing cleanly; depending on the contents of the package they also serve to cover the wheels. The parts are cut exactly to the shape of a particular kit, so there is no trimming of tape by hand.
The Grumman J2F Duck was an American single-engine amphibian biplane with a large central float into which the main landing gear retracted. It served with all the main branches of the American armed forces from the mid-1930s to the end of the Second World War, on observation, liaison, reconnaissance and sea rescue duties. The J2F-5 version, with a more powerful radial engine, was the last that Grumman built.
First remove any grease from the glazing. Lift the mask off the backing, lay it on the frame and press it down so that it adheres without creases. Then spray the framing color with an airbrush in thin layers so that it does not creep under the edge of the mask. Once dry, peel the mask off carefully at an acute angle. The heavily framed glazing of the greenhouse cockpit, with its many small frames, makes masking especially worthwhile.
The package contains masks only. The model, paints, glue and decals are not included, unless stated otherwise.
