An accessory for building a model, not a kit. The set contains pre-cut self-adhesive masks of kabuki paper in 1:48 scale for the JD-1D Invader version, that is for the form of the twin-engine Invader operated by the US Navy. The BASIC grade is the basic level of the New Ware range. The particular contents of the package are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The Invader is a twin-engine aircraft with a glazed pilot's cockpit set high above the fuselage and with further glazing in the forward part. Against a single-seat fighter there are therefore more glazed areas here, and on top of that landing gear with a nose wheel, that is three wheels to mask. The frames of the cockpit are long and straight, which does make cutting them out of tape by hand easier, but at the same time mercilessly reveals every deviation from a straight line. A cut mask takes care of this work uniformly and quickly. The JD-1D version is, moreover, a less usual choice among modelers than the bomber form, so it also suits an untraditional color scheme.
Wash the clear parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and let them dry freely. Transfer the masks with tweezers and press the edges with a blunt tool, so that paint does not run under them. First the shade of the cockpit interior, then the external finish. On the large flat areas of the fuselage it pays to check whether a mask is holding along its whole length, as a long frame lifts easily. Apply the paint thinly and in several coats. Take the masks off while the finish is still fresh.
The set does not contain the model, paints or glue. Before buying, check that the masks match the kit you are building.
