A small model of a two-wheeled cargo trailer with a load capacity of a quarter of a ton, that is, the classic accessory of the Allied light cross-country vehicle. It builds on its own and is not conditional on any particular kit; it is not, however, a model of a vehicle but a towed trailer, which is either hitched behind a finished jeep or set down as an item of a scene in its own right. The set comes from a maker specializing in resin and photo-etched accessories, so expect a small number of accurate parts rather than an injection-molded plastic fret.
The light cargo trailer for quarter-ton cross-country vehicles was among the most widespread means of Allied supply at the tactical level. It carried ammunition, signals material, jerrycans and personal equipment where a truck would not get through, and without it a model of a jeep often looks too empty in a diorama. It was built in large numbers and with small differences in the execution of the body and the fenders.
First wash the parts in warm water with detergent, so that the release agent from the mold disappears from the surface. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the surfaces with wet abrasive paper, ideally with protection for your airways. Stand the glued trailer on a flat surface and check that it stands without rocking; a small correction to the angle of the wheels is best made at once, while the glue has not yet set. Painting is the same as for the vehicle the trailer belongs to, so it pays to spray both at once and achieve a matching shade. Finally add a load and weathering; an empty trailer looks unnaturally clean in a scene.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The load, glue and paints are not included in the package.
