An injection-molded plastic kit of the modern Japanese Type 10 main battle tank in 1:48 scale. The 1:48 scale is less usual for vehicles and suits anyone who wants to collect armor at a reasonable size or to combine it with aircraft of the same scale. The build is straightforward and even a less experienced modeler will manage it.
The Type 10 is the current Japanese main battle tank, introduced with local conditions in mind. It is lighter and smaller than most Western tanks of the same generation, because it has to get along Japanese roads and bridges and can be moved by rail. It carries a 120 mm smoothbore gun and is built around a link into an information network, so that several vehicles share a picture of the situation. The suspension is arranged so that the vehicle can change its height and lean, which helps when firing on sloping ground.
Finish and paint the running gear before you attach the side skirts. Modern Japanese camouflage rests on two earthy shades with a hard boundary, which is best done by masking. Color modulation works well on the large areas of the turret and the hull. Vehicles in active service tend to be well kept, so be generous with weathering only within reason and concentrate it on the running gear and the lower hull.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
