An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet IS-2 (JS-2) heavy tank, model 1944, in 1:48 scale from the Tamiya military miniature line. The kit combines plastic parts with a metal weighted lower hull, which gives the model a realistic heft. A nylon tow cable and several marking options are also included.
The IS-2 (Iosif Stalin 2) was a Soviet heavy tank developed as an answer to the German Tigers. It was armed with a powerful 122 mm gun that could destroy even heavily armored targets, and it was protected by markedly sloped armor. On the model 1944 version the vision port in the front plate of the hull was deleted, which improved frontal protection. The tanks built at the Chelyabinsk plant proved themselves as breakthrough machines in the closing stage of the war, including the fighting for Berlin.
You will appreciate the running gear and the cast texture of the turret and hull once they are painted. Assemble and paint the interior of the lower hull before you close it. Spray the base with primer, apply the main color with an airbrush and accentuate the cast surfaces with a wash and dry brushing; complete the mud and dust effects with pigments. Glue the plastic parts with liquid cement and the metal lower hull with cyanoacrylate.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
