Die-cut masks for the glazing of the Junkers Ju 88C-6 heavy fighter in 1:48 scale. They cover the framing from the outer and the inner side and are shaped for the clear parts of the Dragon kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Ju 88C-6 came out of the conversion of a fast bomber into a heavy fighter. The glazed nose disappeared and a solid metal tip took its place, holding three machine guns and a trio of cannons. Aircraft in this form guarded the airspace over the Bay of Biscay, attacked Allied patrol aircraft, and some of them reached night fighter units, where they served until the specialized G versions took over.
Even after the conversion plenty of glass was left on the cockpit. The divided canopy over the pilot, the side panels and the rear section covering the gunner each have different framing, and together they form an awkwardly busy whole. The sheet carries shapes for both sides, so the cockpit interior will not be left bare after spraying.
Fit the inner shapes first and glue the cockpit together. The outer shapes come in turn only after the seams have been filled, so that sanding dust does not get under the film. Anyone sanding near the glazing should tape the whole part over on top as well; scratches are hard to polish out of clear plastic.
Night examples of this type were usually matte black, daytime machines carried a split gray scheme. The set does not determine the color and does not offer it; it deals only with the shape of the covering. The difference between the two forms shows on the model at once, so it is worth choosing a specific machine before reaching for the airbrush. The frames on night examples are also less contrasting, and a small inaccuracy in the line is less disturbing there.
