A MARKING masking set for the Junkers Ju 88D-1 in 1:48 scale from the Czech brand New Ware — kabuki masks for spraying the national insignia and markings instead of using decals.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of cut self-adhesive masks of Japanese kabuki paper tape from the Czech brand New Ware. This is neither a model nor decals: the MARKING masks serve for spraying the national insignia and markings directly onto the surface of a model of the Ju 88D-1 in 1:48 scale.
Reconnaissance aircraft flew long missions and their finishes carried the traces of service, and it is precisely on weathered models that sprayed markings show to best effect. They behave as part of the finish: you can run washes, filters, sun-faded oversprays and chipping over them without having to deal with the lifting edges of a decal. The marking follows the panel lines and the riveting perfectly and never silvers.
Measure the symmetry of the markings out in advance and mark the reference points with a piece of tape. Spray dry, thin coats square to the edges of the mask; with multi-color insignia work from light to dark and let the paint vent between coats. If you want a service-worn look, you can lightly overspray the insignia with thinned base color once the masks have been lifted off.
This is a masking accessory for painting; the aircraft kit itself is not included in the package.
