This photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard brings fine metal parts, most often in brass, to raise the fidelity of a model of the Japanese Army fighter Kawasaki Ki-100 in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft model but a detail accessory for advanced modelers. The photo-etched parts replace or supplement elements of the plastic kit and add detail that cannot be molded into injected plastic, for example instrument panels, seat belts and small interior and exterior fittings.
The Kawasaki Ki-100 was a Japanese Army fighter of the closing period of the Second World War. It came about by fitting the airframe of the Ki-61 fighter with a radial engine once the inverted V12 engine had become scarce. The result was an agile and reliable machine with good high-altitude behavior, popular with pilots in the defense of the Japanese home islands.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and make the bends on a photo-etch bending tool or over a metal ruler. Bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate), which cement for plastic will not do. Working with the small parts calls for patience and tweezers.
The set is supplied as photo-etched parts, unassembled and unpainted. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory to a plastic kit. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
