Masks for the glazing of the Ki-43 of the first batches in 1:48. The canopy is treated on both faces and one red circle is enclosed. Cut to the Hasegawa model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Nakajima Ki-43 of the first batches carried a telescopic gunsight led through the windscreen out in front of the cockpit. That tube is small on a model, but the eye finds it at once, because it lies exactly in the axis of the view into the cockpit. Around it the glass has to be absolutely clean, otherwise the whole detail is lost.
It is precisely here that the difference shows between a mask only for the top side and a mask solved for both sides. The inner face of the frame on Japanese machines was painted in a light interior shade, whereas from outside the brown-green of the upper surfaces went across the windscreen. Two different colors on one part can be managed only when each side is covered separately.
The package carries a pair of glazing masks calculated for the outer as well as the inner side and one mask of the national marking, that is the red sun. The circle arises by spraying, so between it and the matte camouflage there is no glossy transition.
Light, nimble and in the first months of the war almost impossible to catch, such was this long-range fighter. Its cockpit is slender and the clear part makes up a large portion of the silhouette on a model, which places high demands on the quality of the masking.
The film is pliable and holds even on narrow bars, where a tape mask would have to be trimmed into thin strips. Before sticking it down it is enough to wash the glass and let it dry completely, so that a layer of primer does not peel the edges away.
The cut corresponds to the kit of the Hasegawa brand in this scale. Neither plastic parts, paints nor decals are in the envelope.
