Masks for spraying the Japanese national insignia without a white outline onto a Ki-44 Shoki model in 1:48 scale. The insignia is sprayed directly onto the surface of the model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Nakajima Ki-44 Shoki was a Japanese single-engine fighter built as an interceptor: a short fuselage with a radial engine and a fairly small wing area gave it speed and a rate of climb at the cost of agility. The Allies listed it under the name Tojo.
Masks for spraying the Japanese national insignia in 1:48 scale, in the rendition without a white outline. The insignia are not applied as decals but sprayed in paint through a mask. The number of insignia and their sizes are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Lay the mask onto a dry, smooth, degreased finish. On a rough matte surface the edge of a mask does not adhere perfectly and paint easily runs under it, which is then hard to correct on the small area of an insignia.
The set is meant for a modeler who is building the Ki-44 in 1:48 scale and wants the national insignia sprayed rather than applied. It pays off above all on models where you are planning scuffs and an aged surface, because a sprayed insignia takes careful sanding back better than a decal. This is an accessory to a model: the kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
