The set replaces the tracks supplied in the kit with separate links and it is meant for the Soviet heavy tanks KV-1 and KV-2 in 1:48 scale. Both subjects share a chassis and running gear and differ mainly in the turret: the KV-1 carried an ordinary turret with a gun, while the KV-2 had a tall boxy superstructure with a large-caliber howitzer. That is exactly why one set of tracks does for both types.
The track is the first thing a viewer notices on a tank model. Separate links let you capture the sag between the return rollers, a detail that the one-piece track from a kit generally cannot manage. At the same time the track can be tensioned exactly to suit how the vehicle is to stand or turn. What the parts are made of and how they are joined is given by the manufacturer in the instructions; choose the glue or fasteners accordingly.
Paint the tracks separately, off the model, while you can still get at them from every side. A dark base works well, with a hint of rust over it and finally dusting to suit the setting the vehicle is to stand in. The contact surfaces and the edges of the teeth shone with worn metal in service, so a light highlight of the edges brings the track back to life. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, or the paint will not hold.
The tank model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery unless stated otherwise.
