A masking set for the landing gear bays of a model of the Japanese J7W Shinden fighter prototype in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Shinden is a Japanese fighter prototype from the end of the Second World War. It has a canard layout, that is a small horizontal surface at the front and the main wing at the back, and the propeller is a pusher at the end of the fuselage. Only prototypes flew and the aircraft never reached combat service; among modelers it is popular mainly for its unusual silhouette.
Masks matching the cutouts of the landing gear bays of a Shinden model in 1:48 scale. The exact extent of the set and the kit it is intended for are given in the manufacturer's instructions. The masks follow the shape of the opening, so on another kit they may not line up, and it is a good idea to check that in advance.
They are applied before spraying to a clean, dry and degreased surface. First the inside of the bays is sprayed in its own shade, then the openings are covered and the surrounding surfaces of the model are painted. Press the edges of the mask down carefully, otherwise paint flows under them and the edge will not be crisp. Lay the paint on in thin coats; a wet coat creeps under even a well-adhered mask. Once it has dried, lift the mask off with tweezers, slowly and at a shallow angle back over itself.
For modelers who build the Shinden in 1:48 scale and want a clean transition between the color of the bays and the lower surface. It shortens the work especially where the opening has an intricate shape and taping it up would take more time than the spraying itself.
The model, the paints and the glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
