The Piper L-4 Grasshopper double-sided self-adhesive mask from Art Scale in 1:48 is a set of precisely pre-cut masks in kabuki film from the Czech manufacturer Art Scale. It contains neither a model nor paint: it serves for quick and clean masking of the cockpit glazing and, as a rule, of the wheels as well while spraying. The double-sided form masks the outer as well as the inner side of the glazing, so the cockpit frames can be painted from the visible side too. The cut is worked out for the Special Hobby kit.

The real subject

The Piper L-4 Grasshopper was an American light liaison and observation aircraft of the Second World War, derived from the civilian Piper Cub. It served for artillery spotting, liaison and observation from low altitude. For good visibility it has extensive cockpit space glazed along the sides with a great many frames, and this set makes masking them substantially easier.

Use

• Peel off the individual numbered masks and transfer them onto clean, degreased glazing.
• The mask follows the frames precisely, so all you have to do is spray over it in the color of the cockpit frames.
• The inner parts let the frames be painted from the visible side of the cockpit as well, which helps a great deal on a cockpit as glazed as this.
• We recommend a sharp modeling knife, tweezers and applying the paint in thin coats.
