A self-adhesive masking set for a model in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard of Obrnice near Most. It is not a kit or decals but an accessory for a build: the masks cover the clear areas so that only the framing of the cockpit canopy is left exposed while spraying. This item is in the basic configuration, for the outer side of the clear parts. Alongside it, the manufacturer also makes a variant designated TFace, which additionally contains masks for the inner side, so they are two different products, not a duplication.
The Lockheed Martin F-35B is the version of the single-engine multi-role F-35 adapted for short takeoff and vertical landing. It differs from the other versions in its lift fan behind the cockpit and its swiveling nozzle, which on the model shows as characteristic doors on the upper and lower sides of the fuselage. The cockpit is covered by a one-piece canopy with a minimum of dividing frames, so once it is finished the interior is clearly visible and the cleanliness of the masking shows on the model at once.
Wash the clear part, degrease it and let it dry completely. Release the mask from the sheet with the tip of a scalpel, carry it with tweezers and seat it exactly along the frame. Press it down with a soft tool so that the edge seats all around the perimeter, and trim any overhang with a fresh blade in a light pass along the outline. Spray a thin sealing coat of base color first and only then the shade itself, always in several light passes, as a heavy application runs under. Take the mask off once the paint has flashed off, while the layer is not yet fully cured, and pull it slowly back over itself.
It is an accessory for a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
