About product

Eduard 1:48 Lockheed Martin F-16C Block 42 from 2006 SPACE

A set of pre-colored 3D decals of the SPACE line from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for the cockpit of an F-16C model in the Block 42 version, 1:48 scale. According to the name it matches the later cockpit configuration used from 2006 onward. For the same block the manufacturer also offers a set for the earlier state, so when choosing, make sure which period you want to capture on the model. These are not photo-etched or resin parts but thin elements with a raised relief printed on backing decal paper; they have no adhesive layer of their own and are lifted off the paper once it is moistened.

The real subject

The F-16 is a single-engine multirole combat aircraft with a bubble canopy, a blended wing-body transition and a side-mounted control stick. Blocks 40 and 42 form a common development series adapted for flying and attacking at low level in the dark; they differ from each other in the powerplant, with Block 42 using a Pratt & Whitney engine. The cockpit of these machines was gradually modernized during service, so its appearance depends on which period the modeler is capturing.

How to use the set

Cut the parts out of the sheet with a sharp scalpel along the outline and follow the instructions supplied with the particular set. Moisten only the backing paper under the part, ideally with a sponge and a drop of detergent, lift the element off with tweezers and lay it on a cleaned and previously painted surface. Fix it with dispersion (white PVA) glue; the manufacturer does not recommend super glue on these elements. Do not use a decal softener, its chemistry would attack the printed relief. Fit and complete the interior before you close up the fuselage halves.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of the F-16C in the Block 42 version in 1:48 scale
  • Modelers who want to capture the later cockpit configuration from 2006 onward
  • Those building a model with the canopy open
  • Those interested in a realistic interior without painting tiny instruments

This is an add-on for the build of a model. The model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.

FAQ

Both sets are for the same block, but they capture the cockpit in a different period of service. Choose the one that matches the machine you want to build.

No. It is an interior decal set, that is an add-on for the build. The model has to be bought separately.

The interior is practically inaccessible once the fuselage is glued, so fit the set during the build, before the fuselage is closed. The element is lifted off moistened paper and fixed with dispersion glue, so you need free access to the spot.
