Double-sided stencils for the cockpit framing of the A-7D and A-7E Corsair II light attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. They cover the glass outside and inside, so the frame comes out sharp seen from both directions. The pieces are cut for the Hasegawa kits.
The Corsair II followed the shape of the F-8 fighter, but it was shorter, stockier and deliberately subsonic. Instead of top speed it was built on range, load and accuracy. It received one of the first genuinely usable head-up displays and a navigation and attack computer, thanks to which its crews dropped bombs with an accuracy unheard of until then. The D version flew with the air force, the E version with the navy. Characteristic features are the large air intake under the nose and the one-piece canopy hinged to the rear with a fixed windscreen in a thick frame. The type stayed in operational service for decades and left it only when its tasks were taken over by jets of a new generation.
