A resin detail set, not an aircraft model. The set contains faithfully cast control surfaces of the Lysander Mk.III, which can be fitted on a model in a deflected position and so bring a static build to life. The set is intended for kits of this aircraft in 1:48 scale and pushes the detail beyond the level of the plastic from the box.
The Westland Lysander was a British liaison and observation aircraft with outstanding short-field takeoff and landing qualities. The Mk.III version is the best known of them; it became famous for its use in special operations, when it dropped off and picked up agents at night on improvised strips in occupied Europe. Its high wing and fixed landing gear are among its hallmarks.
First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and rid them of mold release residue from the mold. Cut off the casting blocks carefully with a saw and level the surfaces; wear a respirator when sanding resin, as the dust is harmful. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate), not with ordinary plastic cement. Apply a base primer before painting.
