SPACE is an Eduard range that approaches cockpit detail differently from classic photo-etch or resin: the elements are finished in color and supplied on a decal carrier, so they are applied much like decals and call for no gluing of small metal parts. The modeler thus gets a color interior without laborious painting. The set is intended for a model of the Macchi MC.200 Saetta in 1:48 scale and belongs among the decals. The Macchi MC.200 Saetta was an Italian single-engine fighter of the turn of the 1930s and 1940s, powered by an air-cooled radial engine. It was an all-metal low-wing monoplane with retractable landing gear; a characteristic feature was the humped fuselage spine behind the cockpit. Some machines had an open cockpit, while others used a closed canopy. Later fighters from the same maker were based on it in design but were given an inline liquid-cooled engine and a slimmer nose.
First level the surface you will apply the elements to and spray it with gloss varnish; on a matte surface the carrier will not take hold evenly and white patches can appear. Moisten only the backing paper, move the elements with tweezers and fix them with white PVA glue. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as the chemistry attacks the printed resin of the element. Let everything dry thoroughly before you move on. Finish the interior before you join the fuselage halves. At the end, unify the whole cockpit with matte varnish so that the sheen of the carrier does not distract.
The set is an accessory to a kit, not a model in its own right. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
