The Bristol Blenheim Mk.IF BASIC 1:48 mask set is a basic set of pre-cut self-adhesive templates from New Ware for the Airfix kit. It deals above all with the extensive glazing of the model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A mask set for a model of the fighter conversion of the twin-engine Blenheim in 1:48 scale. On the carrier sheet are pre-cut self-adhesive shapes tailored to one specific Airfix kit. It is not a kit, but an accessory used at the painting stage. The BASIC designation denotes the basic scope of the range, that is the smallest of the variants; wider levels with more templates sit above it.
The Blenheim is one of those aircraft with exceptionally extensive glazing: the glazed navigator's nose, the long cockpit and the framed side transparencies mean dozens of small panes with thin bars between them. Cutting them out of tape by hand is an evening's work and the result tends to be uneven. Pre-cut masks simply seat and press down, so you can start spraying almost at once and every bar is the same width.
Before you start, sort the offcuts on the sheet into the order in which you will apply them, so that you are not hunting for them with tweezers in a pile afterward. The clear parts must be degreased and dry. On larger areas it helps to seat the mask from one edge and press it down gradually so that no air is left underneath. Spray thinly, with pauses, and above all straight on at the edge of the mask. Peel slowly and fold the mask back over itself; on a large glazed nose it pays to take the masks off one at a time and watch the corners.
The package holds only the masking templates. The kit and the paints are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
