The New Ware 1:48 MiG-25 RB BASIC mask set is the basic grade of the mask set for this reconnaissance aircraft. The cut self-adhesive masks cover the main surfaces that have to be covered during painting.

The basic grade of the set from the manufacturer New Ware is the entry point into masking a particular model. It holds self-adhesive parts cut to the shape of the main surfaces that have to be covered before spraying, above all the canopy glazing. Anyone trying mask sets for the first time usually starts with this grade and moves on to the wider versions with their next build.
The problem itself is simple: a clear part has to stay clear, but the frames around it have to be in the color of the airframe. Anyone who has tried it with tape knows that on curved shapes a straight piece of tape cannot be bent without folding, and the edge is then not straight. A cut mask skips that step, because it is cut to the actual geometry of the part. The result is an even width of frame and clean glass with no paint residue, which on a cockpit is what gets looked at most of all.
Wash the clear part in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap and let it dry in the air, not with a cloth. Lift the masks off the film with fine-jawed tweezers. Lay the parts on the flat surfaces first and only then the strips on the curves, where the material has to be stretched a little. It is recommended to spray a thin coat of the interior color first and only then the outer shade, so that the frames look right from the inside. Take the masks off once the paint has dried; on very thin strips help yourself with the tip of a toothpick rather than metal.
The package holds only the mask set. A kit, paints and glue are not part of it.
