Cut self-adhesive masks for painting a model of the Su-33 carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. The product is not a kit but an aid for the spraying stage. With this maker the EXPERT grade is the widest of the coverages offered for the set, that is the version for modelers who want the masking solved in advance and to the fullest extent.
In 1:48 scale the Su-33 is one of the larger models. Bigger areas mean longer edges, more transitions between shades and, above all, extensive cockpit glazing. Preparing the masking by hand on such a model can easily take several evenings. A pre-cut set cuts that time to a fraction and, above all, makes sure the edges are equally accurate on both sides of the fuselage, which is hard to hit freehand.
The Su-33 is a carrier fighter derived from the land-based Su-27. For operation from an aircraft carrier it was given strengthened landing gear, an arrestor hook, folding surfaces to save room in the hangar and foreplanes that improve handling at low speed. It serves for the defense of a naval group and for escort duties; it was operated from the deck of a heavy aircraft-carrying cruiser.
On a large model, plan the order of the colors first and always apply a mask onto a previous coat that has cured. Spray the transitions between the shades of gray lightly and from a greater distance. Spray the folding and movable surfaces separately and only then attach them. Lift the mask off soon after spraying and raise the edge with tweezers, not with a fingernail.
The package contains masking parts only. The model, paints and glue are not included. The masks are cut for the Kinetic K48062 kit, so check that they match your own model.
