Self-adhesive templates for spraying a model of the U-2A reconnaissance aircraft in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer New Ware, at the top level of the grading. The set is cut to the shape of the parts of one specific kit, the AFV Club AR48112.
New Ware offers several variants of masks for the same aircraft, and the word in the name is not a mark of grade but a measure of coverage. BASIC deals with the basics, ADVANCED is the intermediate step and EXPERT is the most extensive variant. The choice is mainly about how many areas you want to mask with a template and how many you can cut yourself out of tape. Anyone building a model for a display case who does not want to fiddle with tape usually reaches for the top level.
In collections the U-2 most often appears in a single dark finish, where every unclean edge leaps out, because a smooth undivided surface hides nothing. Dark shades also do not cover evenly; they are sprayed over a light base and in several thin coats. It is on a model like that where a more extensive mask set pays off most: the transitions appear exactly where they belong and you do not have to correct them with a brush.
Work from the lightest shade to the darkest and remove a mask as soon as the paint is dry to the touch. On large areas let the template bond for a while before you start spraying. Check the edges against the light; a hair's gap between mask and plastic can be spotted before paint fills it. Leave the rest of the sheet flat in its original wrapping, as a creased or dusty film will not bed down again.
The package holds only the masking templates. The kit, paints and thinner are not part of it.
