A set of precisely cut self-adhesive painting masks from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the Italian Macchi MC.200 Saetta fighter in 1:48 scale. It is neither a kit nor a model - it is an accessory that makes it easier to paint the cockpit glazing and other small areas cleanly. The masks are applied directly to the parts, so the framing of the single-seat canopy gets sharp, straight edges without laboriously cutting adhesive tape. Sets of this type usually also include circular masks for the wheel hubs, which make it easier to separate the tire from the rim.
The Macchi MC.200 Saetta was an Italian single-seat fighter of the Second World War powered by an air-cooled radial engine. It excelled in agility and pleasant flying qualities but was relatively lightly armed, with two machine guns. The Saetta flew more combat sorties than any other Italian aircraft and fought over the Mediterranean, North Africa and the Eastern Front. Its framed glazed cockpit is a rewarding place to use masks.
Lift the mask carefully off the backing with tweezers or the tip of a knife and lay it on a dry, degreased surface. Press the edges down carefully so that no paint creeps under them. Apply the paint in thin coats, ideally with an airbrush, and pull the mask off before the coat has fully hardened. On strongly curved shapes it helps to seal the edge with masking fluid.
This is a set of painting masks, not a model. A kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
