A set of photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale for a model of the two-seat Me 262B-1a/U1 night fighter. Thin metal sheet captures the details that are necessarily coarser in plastic.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Messerschmitt Me 262 was the first jet fighter to reach series production and combat service. The B-1a/U1 form was created by converting the two-seat trainer into a night fighter: the second man in the cockpit worked the radar, whose antennas jutted out ahead of the nose and cost the aircraft a noticeable slice of its speed. Only a handful were built and they fought over Germany in the last months of the war, so it is a subject that stands out at once on a shelf among ordinary day fighters.
Photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale. Photo-etch is made from thin metal sheet, so it has the right thickness even where a plastic part would have to be several times heavier than the real thing. The range of parts, their placement and the kit they are intended for are given in the instructions supplied by the manufacturer.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface; cutting pliers twist the sheet. Level off what is left after separating with a fine file. Make the bends along the etched score lines, best of all in a bending tool or between the jaws of flat tweezers, and always in a single movement. You will not bond metal with polystyrene cement; use cyanoacrylate glue in a tiny quantity. Degrease the sheet before painting and lay a primer coat on it, or the paint will not hold on the smooth surface.
The kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
